Renault Roundup 2016
Our roundup this year was held at Caribbean Gardens in Scoresby. I think most people appreciated the change in venue from Docklands and we plan to return to Caribbean gardens for 2017.
Justin Hocevar from Renault Australia addressed the gathering giving a little insight into the future of Renault over the coming months which was very interesting.
The Renault Car Club of Victoria would like to thank all who came along to make it a great day with special thanks to our award sponsors Barry Bourke Renault, Renault Australia, Alpine Affaire, Auto Paris and French Connection.
The display winners were:
Best Renault In Show – Cor Boon – Green Renault 4 (Sponsored by Barry Bourke Renault)
Best Pre 2001 Renault – Rowena Rasmussen – Orange Caravelle (Sponsored by French Connection)
Best Post 2001 Renault – Leon Deminey – Charcoal Laguna (Sponsored by Auto Paris)
Best Sporting Renault – Nathan Porter – Red RS 265 Megane (Sponsored by Alpine Affaire)
Best Commercial Renault – Venus Lane – Blue Kangoo (Sponsored by Renault Australia)
Club member David Cavanagh who is a past President of the club and current vehicle scrutineer for Club Permit Vehicles was announced as a Life Member, which was well deserved.

RENAULT ROUND-UP 2016
The Round-Up is on again – 14th February
The Renault Round-Up car display is open to all Renaults old and new. You don’t have to be a RCCV member to display your car at the Round-Up.
The Round-Up is supported this year by Barry Burke Renault, Alpine Affaire, Auto Paris, French Connection and Renault Australia.
It’s a new location this year – the Caribbean Gardens in Scoresby. There are two entrances; one off Ferntree Gully Road less than one Km from the Eastlink Tollway exit and another off Stud Road. Below the flyer is a map showing in more detail where the display area is in the Gardens.
The Caribbean Gardens is having their 50th anniversary in February and there’s even more to see and do than usual. The night before the Round-Up is the big event with holographic light display and water skiing exhibitions on the lake. More details on their website here.
Cars can arrive from from 8:30am and the show formally starts at 9:30.
General Meeting – 15 December 2015
Heinz is bringing his Alpine A310 1600 for us to check out and Phillipper is bringing some video/DVD.s to watch.
Heinz will be there from around 6.00 pm with his car so if you would like to get some take away for tea and have it in the car park with us, please do.
FRENCH CAR FESTIVAL – 1 November 2015
We had a reasonable turnout of cars on Sunday considering the event fell on the weekend before Cup Day and the weather forecast was not overly inspiring.
The cars covered many eras of Renault with some notable absences. Unfortunately there were no R8’s and no Dauphines. A couple of notable cars were Mike Garafillis R12 Gordini, John Hardy’s Alpine A110, Joost Kuckartz R5 Convertible and an R5 Turbo2.
There were two awards to Renaults on the day. One was a judged award for best Renault and that was won by David Jenkins for his R750. The other was a peoples choice award which went to Rowena Rasmussen for her Caravelle.
We had three new members join on the day and we welcome them to the club.

General Meeting – November 17, 2015
Rob Roy Club Challenge – Round 3, 25 October 2015
We had a smaller contingent at the final round of the club challenge but some good results.
Colin Stark in his A110 won Class C (1601 cc to 2000 cc) with a time of 25.07 sec which was incredible as he had only one run for the day and the the motor shut down with an electrical gremlin before the finish line. Graeme Edwards in a RS Clio came second in the same class with a time of 26.14 sec.
Geoff Rasmussen in his R4 took third place in Class A (up to 1300 cc) with his fastest time ever up the hill of 47.56 sec. Unfortunately he did it on his first run of the day and could not improve the result.
They now record terminal speed for cars as they cross the finish line. Colin’s time for his run was 109 kmh, Graeme’s was 107 kmh over three runs with Geoff’s fastest time maxing out at 41 kmh.
John Elliott had radiator pressurisation issues with his GTA and only completed threthirde runs but ended fifth in class with a time of 26.81 sec.
We also had Dave Cavanagh representing the club along with his son Chris (representing PCCV) driving a Peugeot 306 GTi6. Dave took out the honours between them with 28.23 sec compared to Chris at 28.66 sec. Better luck next time Chris.
As a team, we came third on the day and fourth overall.

Wings and Wheels Maryborough
Our drive day to Maryborough went well last Sunday with a good turnout of members and a variety of Renaults. We had a 750, an R5, an R12, an R16, an R17, a Fuego, four RS Clio’s and an RS Megane.
Most of us started from BP Calder (almost on time) at 9.30 am. Paul Stewart in his R17 joined us at Gisborne as we headed for the Moto Bean Cafe at Malmsbury. The cafe was an ideal place to stop for coffee with a couple of cars and a few motorcycles on display inside.
We then travelled on to Maryborough airport where there was an air display in progress as we arrived. Most of our group (all but me) were directed to the car display area to park. They decided my car was too new. I was a little disappointed with this having organised the day. I will eventually get over it.
Colin Stark was competing in the sprints on the airstrip in his A110 Alpine. The record for his class was 17.7 seconds. He managed to reduce this by 3.13 seconds to 14.57 seconds. Great effort.
It has been suggested that we make this an annual drive which we will consider but we may need to leave a little earlier to get the most from the day.
